Thyroid imaging in mice
Radioiodine accumulation in thyroid tissues are well-established tools for managing patients with thyroid disease. It is for example clinically used to detect residual thyroid cancer tissue in patients who underwent thyroidectomy. Here, we injected 250 µCi (9.25 MBq) in a mouse. 4 hours post-injection, a 30 minute SPECT acquisition was done, followed by a general purpose CT for anatomical reference and iodine accumulation in the thyroid was observed.
