Low dose PET
The β-CUBE is able to detect very low levels of radioactivity, which can be important for evaluation of new PET radiotracers that were synthesised with a low radiochemical yield or low specific activity. In addition, it allows to evaluate more animals with one synthesis batch (high throughput), and to investigate biological pathways where small doses of the radiotracers need to be injected to avoid therapeutic effects. Administration of low doses will also reduce the exposure of the animal and the researcher.
Below, a 10 minute [18F]NaF PET scan of 1.4 µCi (51.8 kBq) is shown.
