Lung imaging with SPECT-CT

Intratracheal instillation of radiotracers allows instantaneous delivery directly to the lung, or even to a single lobe within the lung. The radiotracer is suspended in a small volume of vehicle and is delivered directly to the lower respiratory tract, which avoids deposition in the nasal passage or on the fur.

In this study, intratracheal administration of 50 µL 99mTc-MDP (37 MBq) was done. After 30 minutes of uptake, a 30 minute static whole body SPECT scan was done, followed by CT for anatomical correlation.
