EANM2019 Abstract: Radiofluorinated gases as regional ventilation markers – Application to a rat model of acute lung inflammation

The aim of the study was to evaluate the use of [18F]-CF4 as a ventilation marker in a rat model of impaired lung ventilation due to LPS induced inflammation and compare with [18F]-FDG-PET. A 10 minute dynamic PET 4 hours after intratracheal LPS administration showed a uniform distribution of [18F]-CF4 and fast elimination of the radioactivity after discontinuation of the administration. Subsequent static imaging revealed that LPS rats had a 2 fold greater uptake in the lungs compared to control.
