The β-CUBE, a high-end compact preclinical benchtop PET for total body imaging (SNMMI, 2017)

To further improve preclinical PET, new systems should improve spatial resolution and sensitivity. Ideally this is obtained without increasing the total cost of the system. Based on monolithic scintillators with highly sampled readout and Depth-Of-Interaction capability, MOLECUBES developed a compact preclinical PET system, called the β-CUBE. Here, we report on the design, the specifications, performance evaluation and in-vivo imaging results.

Multimodal imaging in an experimental rat model for brain metastasis (EMIM, 2017)

Metastatic brain tumors are a severe problem in the treatment of patients with breast carcinoma. We developed a rat model for brain metastasis that allows follow-up by MRI. Injection of cancer cells labeled with iron oxide particles, allows tracking from the single-cell stage until the appearance of full-blown metastases.

Dose reduction study with 99mTc-DMSA

In this application we show the use of our γ-CUBE. The high-sensitivity, high-resolution SPECT imager allowing whole-body mouse and rat imaging. 99mTc-DMSA is a SPECT tracer that is taken up in the cortex of the kidneys, and is used to assess renal function.

Gamma-cube and X-cube: A New Scanner Generation for Benchtop Small Animal SPECT/CT (EANM, 2015)

The first generation small animal imaging systems offer molecular 3D imaging at sub millimetre spatial resolution with SPECT and sensitivities in the order of several percents using PET. These systems often occupy a whole room because they are based on large to medium-size detector technology, borrowed from clinical scanners.
